Verna Griffin, a second-generation Californian, remembers believing in God when she was very young. While attending UCLA, she met some women and began attending Bel Air Presbyterian Church and Campus Crusade. In February of 1958 she heard the gospel in a way that made clear sense to her and she prayed to receive Jesus into her life and heart. Verna has served as both an elder and a deacon for many years since 2004. She has used her talents with bookkeeping and accounting, and currently is open to helping with whatever needs the church has. She says, “The Lord is doing a new work here at CPPC and I want to do whatever I can to support that in whatever way I am called.” As an elder, she feels stretched in new ways, and praises God for this. Verna loves that CPPC starts unequivocally with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His word.
