Statement of Faith
The Canoga Park Presbyterian Church upholds the doctrine contained in The Book of Confessions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). In particular:
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit leading to a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is absolutely necessary.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life, and whose empowering enables the Church to minister in the name of Jesus Christ.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

Fellowship of Presbyterians
See their
Website

From this fellowship, after long and careful consideration, a new reformed denomination, called the "Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians" (ECO)
has been formed.

This organization was initially known as the "Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians. However, to avoid confusion with our brothers and sisters in the "Evangelical Covenant Church" (ECC), a change in name was effected as of April 9, 2012. The acronymn "ECO" will be retained.
You can check out the Polity of ECO at:
their Web Site
We, as a congregation, we are considering this new denomination's Polity in the light of current changes in the Polity of the PCUSA together with our Resolution of June 2006. (See immediately below.)

CPPC Session Resolution
The following is quoted, in part, from the Canoga Park Presbyterian Church (CPPC) Session Resolution in response to Recommendation # 5 of the 217th General Assembly 2006 of the Presbyterian Church USA A full text downloadable Word® document is available below.
"We, the Session of Canoga Park Presbyterian Church submit this resolution for private and public distribution.
RESOLVED:
That we, the Session of Canoga Park Presbyterian Church, speaking on behalf of the congregation of the Canoga Park Presbyterian Church, affirm that the Bible, which consists of 66 books in the Old and New Testaments, is the Inspired, Infallible and Inerrant Word of God. We further affirm that the Bible is God's true witness to the Church for all matters concerning faith and practice. We also reject the notion that certain parts of the Bible be held in higher regard than others (2 Timothy 3:16). Therefore we believe that decisions of ordination must be based on the trustworthy, dependable, authoritative Word of God, not on the pluralistic viewpoint of today's society.
Furthermore, we affirm that the Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church USA, as it exists in 2006, accurately reflects the Biblical position on matters concerning ordination and conduct of all ordained persons. We believe that ordination within the Presbyterian Church USA which does not conform to the Book of Order is not a proper ordination; and is, therefore, unconstitutional."
